Candice Thompson is a Brooklyn-based artist, costume and dancewear designer. Her designs for theatre have been featured in venues such as HERE Arts Center, the Ohio Theatre, the Player's Theatre, the 45th Street Theatre, the American Place Theatre, the Brick Theatre, the Crown Point Festival, the NY International Fringe Festival and the Williamstown Theatre Festival and her designs for dance have been seen at such varied companies and places as the New Chamber Ballet at City Center Studios; Laura Peterson Company; Philippa Kaye Company's Humorphous; Milwaukee Ballet company, James Sewell Ballet, ad hoc Ballet, Owen Marks, SUNY Purchase, Harvard and the Rock School for Dance Education. Her leotard designs for LOLAstretch are worn by professional dancers and students in dance companies around the world, including the popular show So You Think You Can Dance.

She grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and has been immersed in the dance culture since the age of five. She trained with Kee Juan Han at the School of Ballet Arizona and spent summers at the Milwaukee Ballet School and the Princeton Ballet School. Upon graduation, she attended New York Universityfs Tisch School of the Arts, majoring in dance. She spent five years as a member of the Milwaukee Ballet Company. Her roles have included Papagena in Mark Goddenfs The Magic Flute, Clara in Michael Pinksf The Nutcracker, Rum and Coca-Cola in Paul Taylorfs Company B, Little Swans in Simon Dowfs Swan Lake, and a soloist in Susan Jonesf staging of Paquita as well as works by George Balanchine, Trey McIntyre, Kathy Posin, Lila York, John Utans, Jimmy Gamonet de los Herros, Kurt Jooss, and Lee Wei Chao. Over the years at Milwaukee Ballet, in addition to dancing, she made premiere dance garments for her colleagues in dance companies all across the nation, listening to their needs and wants, constantly altering her pattern until arriving at the most superior fit. Her expertise in design lies in her understanding of how dancers wish to present their bodies while providing them with unique and quirky design features.

She is currently a dancer with ad hoc Ballet and has been a member of the company since its inception. In her free time, she teaches ballet and pilates, rides a bike between Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope and Williamsburg, knits and writes for the popular dance blog, The Winger.
